Bellow

Bellow End User License Agreement

Effective October 15, 2026.

The short version

Each section starts with a summary like these. The summaries are here to help you read the agreement, but the full text of each section is what legally counts.

1. Agreement

This is a contract between you and CASA Labs LLC, the small company that makes Bellow. By using Bellow, you agree to it.

This End User License Agreement (“Agreement”) is between you and CASA Labs LLC (“we”, “us”), the developer of Bellow. By installing, activating, or using Bellow, you agree to this Agreement. If you do not agree, do not install it; if you have already paid, ask for a refund under section 8.

“Software” means the Bellow app, its helpers (including VoxClean), the cleanup prompts, artwork, documentation, and any update we provide. Bellow is licensed to you, not sold.

2. Free trial

The download is the full app. It runs for 14 days with no sign-up. After that it won’t dictate until you activate a key.

The Software you download is the same for everyone. Without a license key, you may use it for evaluation for 14 days from its first launch on your Mac. When the trial ends, dictation stops until you activate a license key. The trial is otherwise subject to this Agreement.

3. License

One key, three Macs at a time, for as long as you like, for personal or work use. The key is for you, not for your whole team.

If you bought a license key, or we gave you one, and you follow this Agreement, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, perpetual license. It lets you install and use the Software on up to three Macs at a time, for personal or business work.

To move a seat to another Mac, deactivate the Software on the old one first (section 5).

The license belongs to one person. A company that buys keys for its staff must assign each key to one person.

The license covers the version you received and the updates we publish for it. It does not promise any particular future update or feature.

4. What you may not do

Don’t share or resell your key. Don’t redistribute or modify Bellow, and don’t get around the license check. Backups are fine.

Unless we agree otherwise in writing, you may not:

  • share, publish, or resell your license key, or use it on more than three Macs at a time;
  • copy, distribute, rent, lease, lend, or sublicense the Software, or host it for others;
  • modify or translate the Software, or build derivative works from it;
  • reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Software, except where the law allows it despite this restriction;
  • remove, bypass, or interfere with the trial or the license check, or remove our notices.

You may copy the Software only to install it and to keep backups.

5. Activation, license checks, and updates

Activating sends your key and your Mac’s name to Polar, our store. Bellow checks the key about once a week. Being offline never locks you out. A refunded or revoked key does.

You activate the Software with the key from your purchase email. Activation registers the key and your Mac’s name with our store, Polar. After that, Bellow checks the key about once a week.

A licensed Mac keeps working when it is offline or cannot reach Polar. If Polar reports that the key was refunded, revoked, or disabled, dictation stops after the next check, as it does at the end of the trial.

Deactivate, in the setup window, frees that Mac’s seat so you can use the key on another Mac.

Bellow checks our update feed every six hours. When it finds an update, it asks before installing it.

6. Open-source parts

Bellow is built on open-source software and models. Their licenses still apply to those parts, and this agreement doesn’t take away any rights they give you.

Bellow includes or downloads open-source components, each under its own license. They include VoxType, whisper.cpp, llama.cpp, Sparkle, the Whisper speech model, and the Qwen language models. The full license texts are in Bellow.app/Contents/Resources/licenses/ and in THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.md. Those licenses govern those components, and nothing in this Agreement limits the rights they give you.

7. Ownership and your words

We own Bellow. You own everything you say and everything it types. We never see any of it.

We keep all rights in the Software that this Agreement does not expressly give you.

What you dictate is yours. Bellow processes your audio and text on your Mac and never sends them to us, and we claim no rights in them. The Privacy Policy explains the little data that does leave your Mac.

8. Refunds and ending this agreement

You can get a full refund within 14 days, no questions asked. A refund turns the key off. If you break these terms and don’t fix it within 30 days, your license ends.

You can get a full refund within 14 days of purchase, for any reason. Polar sells the Software as merchant of record and handles the refund. A refund ends your license and disables the key. This does not limit any refund rights you have under consumer law.

This Agreement continues until it is terminated. It ends if you breach it and do not fix the breach within 30 days of our notice. When it ends, stop using the Software and delete it. Sections 4, 6, 7, 9, and 10 survive the end of this Agreement.

9. No warranty, limited liability

Bellow can mishear you or type into the wrong window, so check its work, especially when it matters. We make no promises beyond what the law requires. If something goes wrong, the most we owe you is what you paid.

Transcription and cleanup are automated and can be wrong. Bellow can mishear words, drop or change them, or type into a window you did not intend. Check its output before you rely on it, especially in medical, legal, financial, or safety-critical work.

THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE”, WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING ANY WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.

TO THE EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOST DATA, PROFITS, OR BUSINESS. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY UNDER THIS AGREEMENT IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE SOFTWARE.

Some places do not allow these exclusions. There, they apply only as far as the law allows, and your statutory consumer rights are unaffected.

10. General

Washington State law applies, but you keep the consumer protections of where you live. A new version of these terms never takes away what you already bought.

  • Governing law. The laws of the State of Washington, USA, govern this Agreement, without regard to their conflict-of-law rules. Mandatory consumer protections where you live still apply. The UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods does not apply.
  • Export. You will comply with U.S. and other export laws that apply to the Software.
  • Changes. We may update this Agreement for future versions. A later version applies to an update only if you accept it, and it never reduces what you already have.
  • Entire agreement. This Agreement, together with the third-party licenses in section 6, is the entire agreement about the Software. Where it differs from the general Bellow License file, this Agreement applies. If a provision cannot be enforced, the rest still applies. If we do not enforce a provision, that is not a waiver.
